GiproKommunEnergo Ltd. has commenced the active work on “Energy efficient city” project in the city of Vorkuta.

GiproKommunEnergo Ltd. has commenced active work on the “Energy efficient city” project in cooperation with “Integrated Energy Systems” CJSC and the administration of Republic of Komi.
According to the agreement signed between the division of IES CJSC “Urals Generation” and “GiproKommunEnergo” Ltd. (Moscow), during 2010 a complex program of energy saving of Vorkuta will be developed for the period of 2010-2015. Currenty the specialists of GiproKommunEnergo have commenced their activity in Vorkuta. They have started the examination of energy sources and heat networks of the city along with measuring and analyzing the efficiency of operation of existing energy infrastructure objects.
As of the statement of the company, the energy saving program for Vorkuta is the document that currently has no analogies. It will unite the data on the current status in public utilities, energy and heat supply of Vorkuta with real offers on integrated improvement of energy efficiency of the whole city. All the activities of the program will consider both technical status and the current social, economical and demographic situation.
The development of the program will be held in several stages. Initially the condition of the city’s energy system, residential properties, public utilities and social infrastructure along with a list of primary energy saving measures will be analyzed.
The criterias of their selection will be the simplicity and acessibility of implementation, short pay-off period, and the capability of timely determining and analyzing the actual energy saving effect.
In the future the authors of the program will have to determine the energy saving potential for all the stages of porduction, distribution and consumption of energy resources. Finally, the development of integrated systemized solutions in energy efficiency improvement of Vorkuta for 2010-20155 will be formed.
Vorkuta’s energy efficiency improvement project has been offered in autumn 2009. With the support of Komi’s gouvernment it has been reviewed and has been approved by Presidential energy efficiency improvement work group and has been rated as high as the governmental initiatives on energy efficiency.
“Energy efficient city” project work group includes IES CJSC, government of Republic of Komi and the administration of Vorkuta. Activities have been planned for five years.
